A pin mill features two discs (either one stationary and one rotating, or both counter-rotating) fitted with concentric rows of precision-machined alloy pins. Feed enters the disc center and is centrifugally accelerated outwards, passing through rows of pins at tip speeds up to 200 m/s for maximum kinetic impact.

Working Principle

Material is fed axially into the center of the grinding chamber. Centrifugal force accelerates the particles outwards through concentric intermeshing rows of high-speed rotating pins. The intense multi-stage pin impacts break particles down instantly. Powder exits centrifugally into an air-swept cyclone collector without passing through a screen mesh.
