How Do You Grind Turmeric Without Losing Its Colour, Curcumin Content, or Fighting Constant Clogging?
Turmeric is another ingredient which offers a new set of headaches for processors as compared to chilly. The sticky nature of turmeric along with its oiliness and propensity to cake up inside the grinders requires proper management of temperature and moisture. Failure to do so results in clogging of screens and reduction in the color value and curcumin content of the turmeric. Premium Pulman's Turmeric Processing Plant is built specifically around these challenges, drawing on more than 20 years of manufacturing size reduction equipment for spice processors across India.
Designed for Turmeric's Unique Behaviour
Turmeric's natural oils and moisture content mean it doesn't grind the way drier spices do. Our processing plants account for this with chamber designs that resist caking and clogging, along with cooling arrangements that keep the material from overheating during continuous runs. The goal is straightforward: protect the curcumin and colour that determine turmeric's market value, batch after batch.
Technical Specifications
The Turmeric Processing Plant is configured across multiple capacity ranges to suit commercial and industrial-scale operations, with construction available in mild steel or stainless steel depending on hygiene requirements and export standards. Screen and mesh sizing is customized to your target fineness, whether you're producing turmeric powder for retail packaging or bulk supply to food manufacturers. Cooling systems are integrated for operations running continuous or extended grinding cycles, since sustained heat is turmeric's biggest enemy during processing.
Mild Steel (MS) / Stainless Steel (SS 304 / SS 316) for export grade & hygiene standards.
Integrated cooling systems prevent thermal degradation, protecting curcumin & golden colour.
Customized screen sizing for fine retail packaging powder or bulk food supply output.
Handles whole turmeric fingers & pre-broken pieces without clogging or caking.
Silent Features
Anti-caking chamber design suited to turmeric's oil and moisture content
Cooling arrangements to protect curcumin content and golden colour
Adjustable mesh configuration for different powder fineness requirements
Easy-clean design to reduce cross-contamination between processing batches
Durable construction built for daily industrial-scale throughput
Working Principle
Dried turmeric fingers or pre-broken pieces are fed into the grinding chamber, where controlled impact grinding reduces them to powder. Because turmeric tends to cake and clog under sustained heat, the system manages temperature throughout the cycle rather than allowing build up between passes. Ground material moves through a screening stage, where correctly sized powder is separated from coarser particles that get routed back for further grinding. This closed-loop approach keeps particle size consistent while minimizing the time turmeric spends under mechanical stress — protecting both colour and curcumin levels in the final product.
Why Choose Premium Pulman for Your Turmeric Processing Plant
Turmeric processing is a segment we understand from two decades of hands-on equipment installations across India's spice belt, and we know it behaves nothing like chilly or coriander when it comes to grinding. Every plant we build goes through our in-house design review and dimensional inspection before it leaves our Ahmedabad facility. If you want to see it in action, bring your own turmeric stock to our demonstration room — we'll run it through the system so you can check the colour and consistency of the output before placing an order.
